
Incorporated in 1729 as Reading, CT and named after the town of Reading in Berkshire, England, the town officially changed its name to Redding to reflect its pronunciation in 1767. A charming town just 53 miles from New York City, Redding is home to various racial and ethnic groups, with ancestries of people including white, Asian, Italian, Irish, English, German, and Polish. Recognized as the second-best small town by Connecticut Magazine in 2012, Redding has much to offer both citizens and visitors.
